The 18th season of IPL 2025 was to be played from 22nd to 25th May. But due to the state of war between India and Pakistan, the 58th match of this league was stopped midway. The BCCI then suspended the league for a week.
However, a ceasefire has now been agreed between the two countries. In such a situation, BCCI is preparing to start this tournament once again. But this time there will be a change in the venue along with the schedule.
According to an Indian Express report, the BCCI may inform all 10 teams about the new schedule for the remaining matches of the league by tonight (May 11). So that all the teams can start their preparations and gather the teams at one place.
Along with this, the date of the league will also be extended. That means instead of May 24, the final match of the current season will now be played on May 30. In addition, the new schedule may include more double headers. It is believed that the remaining matches of the league will be played only in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
According to reports, the BCCI has instructed the IPL teams to assemble by Tuesday. In fact, most of the foreign players have returned to their respective countries. In such a situation, all the ten franchises are trying to recall the foreign players and coaching staff back to India.
The foreign players left India between Friday and Saturday after the league was suspended. However, the biggest worry for all the teams is whether their overseas players will return to India or not.
The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala on 8 May was stopped midway after an airstrike alert in Jammu and Pathankot. But the points are not shared between the two teams. In such a situation, BCCI will decide on this match as well.
It is believed that this match can be rescheduled or the game can be resumed from where it was stopped. Before the match closed, Punjab Kings scored 122 for 1 in 10.1 overs, with Punjab opener Priyansh Arya playing a storming innings of 70 off 34 balls and Prabhasimran Singh remaining unbeaten on 50.
